Base Plates for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Roadmaster Eagle 8000 Tow Bar
Question:
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee - My brother has an old Roadmaster 8000 tow bar set up I can use. Do I need to install the EZ4 4 or EZ 5 base plate?

Helpful Expert Reply:
To flat tow your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Eagle 8000 tow bar you can use the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521440-5, which is the EZ-5 base plate kit. The other parts you will need to flat tow your '14 Grand Cherokee are:
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 68" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake # RM-8700
- Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751449
The wiring kit is designed to effectively prevent electrical feedback to keep your Grand Cherokee's electrical system safe, and the Roadmaster InvisiBrake supplemental braking system is highly recommended because it is a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to deactivate or reactivate it.
It is also likely you will need a high-low adapter such as # RM-048-8 to keep your tow bar level with your tow vehicle. The adapter you need is going to depend on some measurements you'll need to take. I have added a link to a help article on high-low adapters which explains the measurements you'll need, as well as a link to our page with our selection of adapters. I have also added links to video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
