Recommended Hitch Adapter for 1-1/4 Inch Hitch and Kuat Sherpa 2.0 with 2 Inch Shank
Question:
Do you carry an adapter that will allow a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2inch hitch to work with a 1.25 receiver on a 2010 prius? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver with 5" Rise # HT5R or # HTAD which will work with a class I hitch on your 2010 Toyota Prius with that bike rack. Using an expander with your Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G will limit your carrying capacity to 100 lbs tongue weight, so once you subtract the 32 lbs of the carrier, you will still be able to carry 68 lbs of bikes with a max of 40 lbs per individual bike. This will hardly limit the carrier so that is the route I'd go.
I reached out to my contact at Kuat and there is the ability to replace the shank and center rail so you would simply transfer your wheel trays over each time you wanted to use that 1-1/4 inch receiver. This is a good option if you want to replace a portion of your bike carrier to make it like the 1-1/4 inch option # SH12G.
