Is the Illumination Wire Needed for a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2005 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a Voyager that I used in my Dodge 1500 and want to mount it in a 2005 F-150 that has a 7 point trailer connection. I have the 6-pin connector for FORD that has 5 wires coming out from it but only 4 wires coming out from the Voyager. Ground, battery and trailer brakes I can figure out but I have 2 left for stop lamp and illumination feed so how do I go from 5 wires to 4? Thanks

I would be happy to help you out. On your truck with the remaining two wires for stop lamp and illumination, you only need the wire for the stop lamp. You can tape up the illumination wire and stow it out of the way because the Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510, does not use this feature.
The stop lamp wire will connect to the red wire on the brake controller. Ground connects to brake controller white, 12 volt power connects to brake controller black. Brakes connects to the brake controller blue wire. I have included a link to the installation details for the brake controller for you.
