Supplemental Braking and Tow Bar Lighting Kit Recommendation for 2016 Chevy Colorado 4WD
Question:
I have a 2014 Leisure Travel Vans Unity 245MB and intend to tow my 2016 Chevy Colorado 4wd Z71. Included with the motor home I have a Falcon All Terrain tow bar. With Research I have learned I need Roadmaster Baseplate kit 5623182-4 brackets to attach the tow bar. I would like a dedicated braking system that is permanently installed in the truck and would like a brake light wiring system that plugs into the existing harness without cutting any of the original wiring. Please make a recomendation as to what parts I will need to acomplish this. I will not do the installation and will try to find a body shop or mechanic shop to do the work. Thanks, I have bought a lot of stuff from e-trailer and have never been disappointed.

The permanently installed supplemental braking system I recommend for your 2016 Chevy Colorado that's getting flat towed is the SMI DUO part # SM99251. The reason I recommend this kit is because it's our installers favorite based on how easy it is to install and how well it works.
The only type of lighting solutions we have for your truck that do not require any splicing are temporary install kits like the Optronics magnetic kit part # TL21RK. I'd recommend a diode kit though even though you said you didn't want to modify the vehicle wiring.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
