How to Plug Jensen RV TV # JTV1917DVDC to 12V Outlet on Camper with AC Power

Question:

Im new to a camper grew up with my family having them and am curious how this 12V TV works. If I understand correctly, I dont have a single 12V cigarette outlet and all my electric save lights whatever else run on 110v through the built in inverter. All my plug ins are USB or two-prong AC types. So if I buy this TV and want to use its 12V power system while boondocking to avoid a ~5 conversion power loss, Ill have to find a nearby set of wires running to an LED light 12v system and then install or tap into it to install a 12V cig lighter by where I want to plug in my TV, correct? Older campers might have cig lighter 12V outlets but many newer ones just use 110v two or 3 prong female plugs, correct? If so, is there a 12v female cigarette plug manufacturer you recommend for safety or reliability?

The Jensen RV TV with DVD Player # JTV1917DVDC referenced in your question does include an AC/DC power adapter that allows the TV to be plugged into an AC outlet, but if you want to use the 12V plug directly with a DC outlet then you will indeed need to tap into 12V wiring from your RV lights to install the required DC outlet.

For this I recommend using the 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332, which can be spliced into the 12V light wiring or connected directly to a 12V battery with the included 5 feet of wire. It will provide you with a 12V/cigarette style outlet that is rated for 20 amps.

Just keep in mind that the Jensen TV is rated for 3 amps so you will want to make sure that your light wiring can handle its draw.

Can I plug this TV into a trailer outlet with two 6 volt batteries? (for dry camping)

As long as you have those 6V batteries wired up in series to provide 12V power, the Jensen TV can indeed plug into a port that's wired to that bank.
