Recommended Option to Carry Bikes and Skis on 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE
Question:
Hey thank you so much for your answer. The page has been very helpful and I plan on purchasing some of the items you suggested soon. I am wondering if the Thule Apex bike racks will also work with the 2008 Land Rover LR2? I like the fact that they have both the lock for the bikes and the lock for the hitch included in them. Do you recommend this product?

To haul bikes as well as your skis and snowboard on your 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE, there is one great option, starting with a hitch.
For a trailer hitch use the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13052 because it has the most bumper clearance for use with a bike rack. This is a Class III, 2 inch hitch which is a bolt-on installation so no drilling will be required to install it on your Land Rover; the hitch is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty. I have added a photo for you to take a look at which shows the hitch installed on a Land Rover LR2 HSE.
To carry your bikes the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack # TH9058 is a great option that keeps your bikes from contacting each other or your Land Rover with anti-sway cradles that have reinforced straps. Thule is well-known for its quality bike racks and the Roadway is no exception while also remaining highly economical. It has an anti-rattle hitch pin, is made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty.
You can then carry up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards with the Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier Adapter for Hitch-Mounted Bike Racks # TH9033. As you can see by the accompanying photo this carrier gets placed on top of your Thule bike rack, securing with U-bolts and hand knobs. It is made of steel and even comes with locks on the arms to help secure your skis or snowboards. The hinged arms that carry your skis or snowboards open with push buttons making it easy to use. For added security I do recommend using Cable Lock # TH538XT to lock the Tram to your Roadway bike rack; this lock can also be used to lock your bikes to the bike rack.
The only other thing to keep in mind with this set up is adapter bar # TH982XT will be needed if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack. I have also added links to video reviews and installs of these products for you to take a look at.
