Recommended Swinging Cargo Carrier for a 2017 Ford Transit
Question:
I own a Transit that I have removed all seats and added crates to transport my dogs. I would like to add a cargo carrier to the front to carry a small generator and some pens...total weight would be no more than 100 lbs. Or, find a rear carrier that easily swings away on the back as I must have full access to the back. Any suggestions?

I am glad that you are open to a trailer hitch receiver at the back of your 2017 Ford Transit T150 because unfortunately there aren't any front mount trailer hitch receivers for your vehicle. For a rear mount hitch receiver I recommend going with the etrailer.com # E98842 as it has the highest weight ratings when it comes to trailer hitches for your vehicle that don't require drilling, and the matte black finish will do a better job at hiding scratches than the glossy finish will that other hitches offer.
We do have the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR that comes with a swinging arm built-in but since you are wanting to carry a generator, I am not sure if an enclosed carrier is the best option.
For an open carrier I recommend using the popular Reese 24x60 Carrier # 63153 along with the Yakima BackSwing # Y02483. The Pivot reduces the overall weight rating of the trailer hitch by 50% but since the etrailer.com trailer hitch has a tongue weight (TW) rating of 900 lbs and you only plan on carrying about 100 lbs of cargo you are good to go!
A perk of using the Kuat Pivot for your application is that it can be used with other accessories (like a bike rack) in the future as well!
I have attached some review videos for you to check out.
