What is Purple Wire For on Replacement Control Module for Lippert Kwikee Steps

Question:

I have a question regarding my new control module, I have a purple lead on the module that is not connected to anything. Can you tell me what it is for? Also when my old module stopped working I was have a problem with the step staying extended when I close the door even though the step switch is on. could the issue have something to do with the door contact, I havent been able to find any kind of wiring schematic on this . My R V is a Itasca Suncruiser.

The purple wire from the Lippert Components Kwikee Revolution Step Control Module # LC363980 is actually an optional wire that can be connected to a porch light so the light goes on whenever the steps are extended. The wire does not need to be connected to anything.

I spoke with my contact at Lippert regarding the problem you were starting to have with the steps staying extended even with the step switch on. He said that the issue shouldn't be related to the door contact as the switch being on should override anything the control is sensing by sending continuous power to the steps. It's possible that the switch itself or the switch magnet may be going bad but it could also have been related to the bad module which you are already replacing. I recommend installing the new control module first to see if the issue is resolved.

Please just let me know if you still have problems with the steps staying extended with the new module and I will be happy to look into this further.
