Recommended Trailer Brake Controller for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Factory 7-Way
Question:
Our 2018 Grand Cherokee has factory 7-way wiring and we now need a brake controller to use with our camping trailer. I hear people say Prodigy controllers are very good. Do you carry those and are they better than others? Which do you recommend?

The Tekonsha Prodigy Series trailer brake controllers, the P2 # 90885 and the similar P3 # 90195, are both excellent quality controllers with a proven track record of reliability.
I recommend the P3 # 90195 over the P2 because it has a much nicer display that is easier to read and because it allows you to store specific braking power settings so you can call them up at any time without having to re-set the power and boost controls. The few more dollars spent will give you a better-performing controller that will be easier to use and that will last for years.
Both share the same core technology of speed-sensing proportional braking to slow your trailer right along with your Grand Cherokee and both install simply, just by plugging in the mating wiring adapter # TK93VR between the back of the controller and the connection point under the dash on the GC. This under-dash connection is shown in the linked photo and in the installation video at the
3:00 mark. The connector is gray.
If you have a smartphone and you prefer an even easier installation you might consider the Curt Echo # C51180. This controller actually installs in your 7-way and pairs with your smartphone which acts as its display. We even offer a phone mount from RVS you can use, part # RVS-CEL-M1. Some will prefer the larger smartphone display and the freedom from having to get under the dash to plug in a wired controller. For some, especially taller folks, the dash-mounted controllers will be a cumbersome obstruction inside the passenger compartment.
The Echo requires no changes to the interior of your vehicle and it is easily moved to another one that has a 7-way. The linked video will illustrate the features and installation of this innovative brake controller.
