Can Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning Mount to Thule Aeroblade Edge Crossbars
Question:
Is there any hardware to mount the Rhino Batwing to the thule Aeroblade Edge. I seem to find nothing but conflicting views. The Aeroblade Edge has the channel running down the middle of the top of the blade with the rubber cover...can this be used? Will it hold? Thanks as always, you guys are great!

I spoke with my contact at Rhino-Rack regarding the Batwing Awning # RR33200. She said that while the Batwing is compatible with the top channels on the Thule AeroBlade Crossbars the issue will be with the particular Edge model that you have. Since the AeroBlade Edge systems such as the part # TH7502-TH7503 feature crossbars that sit flush with the mounting feet and don't actually extend past them, the Batwing will not be compatible.
This is because the Batwing requires that the crossbars extend/overhang the vehicle's roof by at least 4 inches. This is to ensure that the awning does not make contact with the vehicle when mounted.
All of the vehicle awnings and tents we currently carry have this same type of requirement so in order to mount one you will need to go with a different roof rack system with crossbars that extend past the feet. If you can tell me the model and year of your vehicle I will be happy to make a recommendation.
