Trailer Brakes Not Working With Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Flashing 0.L
Question:
The controller code showed S.H., so I disconnected the white neg. wire connected to the frame and cleaned the rust off the contact pts. I checked all the wires in the box. Put everything back together and checked the controller the code was oo. when I stepped on the brake the code went to o.L. All the running lights, brake turn signal are working properly. I did check the trailer fuses in the engine compartment before I cleaned the the neg., but not after. I have a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller which I bought from you several years ago.

The code "S.H." on the Prodigy P2 # 90885 means there is a short so you did the right thing in cleaning your contact points but since you are seeing on "O.L." code that means the problem hasn't been resolved so you are going to need to check the electric brake power wire coming from your trailer to see if that wire is frayed, pinched or otherwise damaged, which may be the cause of the error.
You will also want to visually inspect the brake magnets; if you can see the copper windings coming through the magnets will need to be replaced. To test the magnets you can follow the help article I have linked which outlines how to check them for proper function with a multimeter like # PT89ZR. I have also attached some help articles on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you to check out.
