Will Adding the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect on 2018 Ford Focus Void Warranty?
Question:
The owners manual states you should disconnect the negative side of the battery before flat towing. Does the RM-766 violate the warranty since it disconnects the positive side of the battery.

The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766 will not violate your vehicle warranty according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act because no damage will be caused as a result of adding this part, but it does make it possible to flat tow your 2018 Ford Focus without disconnecting the battery. The idea is to cut the power supply to the vehicle components when the switch is flipped so it will protect your vehicle from draining the battery while towing in the same way as directly disconnecting your battery in the manner your owners manual states.
Instead of having a loose power wire, that could arc and cause issue the negative is removed instead, but this is completely mitigated when you allow both to remain connected and secured using a solenoid and switch. The manufacturer simply doesn't supply that better alternative as a factory option.
