Echo Wireless Brake Control Function With Loss of Cell Signal or Device Off-Line
Question:
I am a super lo-tech guy so here goes a dumb question. If I use the Echo wireless controller in conjunction with my smart phone, an Android will I still have brakes when I am in an area where I lose cell service?

That is a very similar question to one of the first I asked the manufacturer when they were presenting it to us. The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 will still function if you lose cell service because it uses Bluetooth which has to do with proximity and not cell service. However, if you were to even lose that Bluetooth connection due to a battery dying for instance, the controller will keep the settings being used and continue to function based on the last settings. If you happen to lose a phone, you will still be able to use this device as well and it will keep the last setting used. The only thing you won't have is the emergency override button that is part of the app.
