How to Charge Battery of 2012 Ram 1500 While Using Blue Ox Patriot Supplemental Braking Kit
Question:
I just purchased this braking system from you to tow my 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie. What is the best way to run power to the braking system and still keep my toad battery charged? Purchased: 2010 Fleetwood Discovery 40G Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar Blue Ox Avail accessory kit Blue Ox Patriot Braking system

Expert Reply:
The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR that you referenced does draw power from the vehicle battery to activate the brakes of the vehicle it is installed in. What we install here and recommend for charging the toad battery is the Roadmaster Charge kit part # RM-156-25 which basically runs a charge wire from the tow vehicle to the toad so that it has a maintenance charge while the braking system uses the battery on occasion.
