How to Set the Bracket Height on the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System Part # C17499
Question:
I just purchased the Curt 17499 weight distributing hitch. Reading the instructions for installing the L support for the spring bars, its unclear what height to set the L bracket. Step 3 of the instructions for installing the spring bar support brackets says to install the L bracket at a height closest to the spring bar position set earlier with the jack. I dont see where it talks about the spring bar position earlier. Are they referring to the height of the bottom of the spring bar at the head assembly when the ball is at coupler height? Or, are they talking about the bottom of the spring bar when the jack raises the coupler/hitch 3?

Expert Reply:
When the instruction manual for the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17499 states to set the bracket height closest to the spring bar position set with the jack earlier, they are referring to the when you raised the front of the trailer and back of the tow vehicle approximately 3" with the tongue jack. This then simulates the spring bars engaged and level to the trailer frame.
