Upgrading to 15 Inch Wheels/Tires on a 2006 Tracker Tahoe 215 Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 2006 Tahoe 215 with a tandem axle setup. Stock wheels are 14inch with chrome wheels and 205/75/14 tires. Would like to upgrade to 15inch E rated tires aluminum wheels. Need caps too. what do you recommend?

I do have options for you but we do not offer pre-mounted wheel and tire combos in the size you want with the lug pattern you have therefore, you will need to purchase the tire and wheel separately. I looked up some specs on the 2006 Tracker Tahoe 215 Boat Trailer and it appears that you have the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. The pre-mounted 15" diameter wheel with e rated tire combos we offer all come in a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.

I would suggest the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # AM1033. The tire as the title states has a radial ply which will be ideal for highway towing, a load range E rating suitable for use up to 2,830 lbs per tire at 80 psi, and a 81 mph speed rating. These tires are backed with a limited 5-year warranty and a 1-year worry-free guarantee.

Now, recommending a set of wheels is a bit more tricky as it really just boils down to preference. I have attached two lists for you with 15" diameter aluminum wheels that have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. For an aluminum wheel I like the Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 6 Trailer Wheel part # AM22651 which already comes with a center cap.

Please also note that the new 225/75-15 tire is going to be 2.2" taller and .8" wider than the 205/75-14 tire. This means that you will need to have an additional 1.1" of clearance between the top of tire and bottom of fender and .4" of additional clearance between the sidewall of tire and trailer frame in order for the new size to work.
