I determined there is no power coming through the blue wire from the controller, any ideas?

If you check out the picture that I attached you can see that your Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV that you installed is detecting an overload or short on the brake circuit of your 2008 GMC Sierra.

The wiring adapter # C51515 that you also installed is the correct adapter so now we need to determine if the problem is on your Sierra or your trailer. If you have another trailer with brakes handy then you can simply hook up to that trailer and see if the same thing happens.

Whether you find that the short is on your pickup or your trailer the solution is the same; the damaged wiring causing the short or overload needs to be tracked down and fix. Check the wiring for your brake circuit for any places where it is pinched or damaged and replace with 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1. If you can't find any damaged wiring places then check the ground connections for your brake magnets as well.

Let me know if you are still having problems and I can help you troubleshoot further.

If the Curt Venturer isn't putting out power on the blue wire to your 7-Way then try testing the red wire going into the controller. This wire tells the brake controller to send power back to your brakes when the brake pedal in your Sierra is pressed. If you are not getting power to that wire with your brake pedal pressed then there is something wrong with your stop light circuit and you will need to connect that red wire to another source that only gets power when the brake pedal is pressed (like a 3rd brake light). If the red wire is getting power then it sounds like your brake controller has something messed up internally and it will unfortunately need to be replaced. I recommend going with the Tekonsha PowerTrac # 39523 or Primus IQ # TK90160 and pigtail # 20127 as we have found the Tekonsha controllers to be very reliable.
