No Trailer Connection Message After Installing Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500, I just purchased a toy hauler 5th wheel with hydraulic brakes. I purchased a P3 controller but when I hooked it up it says no trailer connected. Is it possible to pull a trailer with hydraulic brakes with this vehicle?

If you receive a "No Trailer Connection" screen when installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 then this indicates that you have a short on the blue brake output wire that runs from the brake controller back to the electric over hydraulic actuator. You will need to trace this wire back checking for breaks while paying special attention to the trailer connectors. It may also be necessary to replace the wire all together with part # 10-1-1 if no breaks are found. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes if used on the appropriate setting.
