Troubleshooting CP Code on Hayes Engage Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
What does the CP code mean on my Hayes-Engage brake controller? The truck is a 2006 Chevy-Silverado

I reached out to my tech contact at Hayes to assist. The CP code on your Hayes Engage # HA81760 is not outlined in your owners manual because it is a calibration setting that is only common to see at the factory. He recommends disconnecting the controller completely and letting it sit for about 10 minutes so it completely discharges and then reconnecting it to see if it will re-calibrate and work properly. If that does not solve the issue, he recommends having it replaced.
If you decide to replace it, I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is easy to use and takes that code deciphering out of the equation. It has an LCD screen that helps with diagnostics and even troubleshooting if needed without any codes.
