How to Find the Correct Brake Switch Wire on 2010 Chevrolet Express Van to Install Brake Controller
Question:
No tow package. Ran all the wires and breakers as needed. Cant find the cold side of the brake switch! Found a wire that is constant hot but when depressing pedal, the light goes out. Please help!

To connect the red wire from the brake controller to the brake switch you will want to use a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, and test the wires on the brake switch. You will want the wire that will only show voltage when the brakes are applied.
I am including a link to a video of an installation of a brake controller on a 2003 Chevrolet Express. At the 9 minute and 25 second mark of the video it will show the brake switch and where the red wire will be connected. This install is on a 2003 model so the wire color and brake switch position may vary, but it will give you an idea of the location of the brake light switch and the wires to test.
