Recommended Replacement Brake Controller for Ram Integrated Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
My 2014 Ram 2500 pulling a goose neck dump trailer loaded with dirt, apply the brakes and they begin to surge vehicle bounces violently, almost loose control. Happened several times after first time i would use the manual brake control lever on the dash rather than braking as normal, this seem to solve control issue. Local Dodge dealer has never heard of such a thing and wants to do a bunch of trouble shooting. Have you ever heard of this issue with integrated brake systems?

We have heard of issues with the factory integrated brake controllers on nearly all brands, not just the 2014 Ram 2500. The factory systems don't have the same adjustability as the aftermarket options, so the trailer is most likely not braking at the capacity needed which will cause the trailer to push the vehicle from behind.
First I recommend adjusting your brake controller to the highest braking for a dump trailer filled with dirt as that weight is substantial. Since the manual override helps control the braking on the trailer better, the trailer brakes are working, so it is a controller issue.
My recommendation is to replace the controller with the Prodigy P3 # 90195 along with the wiring harness # 3023-P or the dash mounted Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR along with wiring harness # 3023-S.
I've attached and article and some videos to assist.
