Double RV Waste Valves for Gray and Black Water Valve
Question:
I am a newbie & a senior person & a strong woman......OK I just bought my trailer 3 months ago. I had to get to know all things about it from scratch. I have watched all sorts of videos. While I was sanitizing the tanks everything seemed to work good. No one has used the toilet since I bought it. After pulling the black water handle out and letting the water run out which came out very clean I pulled the grew water handle and it too came out crystal clean and looked great. I sanitized my trailer 2 times. When finished I dumped 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket of very clean clear water down the toilet in the trailer. Thats all. Which I was going to leave in the toilet. But the next morning I went to check the area under my trailer and to pull out my tub that caught all the water from the valve pipe. The tub had crystal clear water in it and it should not have had anything it it. Well I knew than something was wrong and I could see a drip from the valve cap. So I bought another cap. No water leaked out after putting the new cap on. But I decided to open up the new cap the next day and check for water......guess what water came out. Remember both values were CLOSED. I only opened up the cap. So I think I need to replace both Black and Grey Water Valves. You see my trailer is 15 years old. I am just not sure which one of your valve assembly units I should order. I want to send you a photo of my trailer valve sewer line to see if you can tell me which Valve Assembly you recommend for my 2003 Pioneer Fleetwood trailer . Thanks for the photo and based on that we do have a replacement that will work for you although you are going to need to know what your gray water pipe and black water pipe connections are - either spigot or hub - which I'll explain but you are going to need to remove your valve to find this out.
Basically, hubs on the valves slide OVER your RV's water lines while the spigots on the valves slide INTO the water lines. When you take off your current valve, pay attention to if it slides into your pipes or over them.
Valve # TR38 has a 3" hub and 1-1/2" hub, both of which slide over your water lines. The 3" hub slides over your RV's black-water line while the 1-1/2" hub slides over your gray-water line.
Valve # TR38A has a 3" spigot and 1-1/2" hub, and the 3" spigot slides into your RV's black-water line while the 1-1/2" hub slides over your gray-water line.
Valve # TR38B has a 3" spigot and 1-1/2" spigot, both of which slide into your water lines. The 3" hub slides into your RV's black-water line while the 1-1/2" hub slides into your gray-water line.
Additionally you will need Valterra ABS Solvent Cement # A05-0303 to ensure a tight, bonded connection between the valve and pipes.
