Trunk Mounted 3-Bike Rack for 2012 Toyota Prius

Looking at the Saris Bones 3 bike carrier. Are there accessories that are needed as opposed to suggested? Looking to get one fairly soon. Thanks

The Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier # SA801BL referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Prius. Please note though that on this particular vehicle you will be limited to loading just 2 bikes onto the carrier with a total weight of 70 pounds. This is simply because the Prius is not designed to handle the weight of 3 bikes with how this rack attaches.

If you need to carry 3 bikes I recommend the Thule Gateway Pro # TH78VR instead, which will maintain its 3 bike limit on your vehicle.

As far as installing either of these racks on your Prius, nothing else is required and all the needed straps/mounting pads are included. The only other accessory you might need if you plan on securing any children's, woman's, or alternative frame bikes is an adapter bar like the Kuat # UB01. This will provide a horizontal attachment point for level transport and improved ground clearance.
