Is a Hitch Bike Rack or Utility Trailer Best Option to Carry Bikes Behind 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
I am considering purchasing either a 4 bike tray style rack with 2 bike add-on or a small e.g. 4x6 utility trailer for traveling with bicycles. I am wondering if there would be a significant difference in safety and/or the ride between these two options, particularly when riding in a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.3L engine i.e. the smaller engine. Any thoughts or advice?

By far your best option to carry 4 bikes behind your 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan is a trailer hitch and a hitch-mounted bike rack. Your mini-van will ride better without a trailer, there won't be as much stress on the vehicle, and it will be much more convenient to use a bike rack as opposed to a trailer so that's absolutely the way to go.
For a trailer hitch, part # e98854 is a great option. I strongly recommend checking out the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Platform Rack # Y02443-2 which will fit a 2" hitch, has a shank long enough to clear your Grand Caravan's bumper, is easy to use and even comes with an anti-rattle hitch lock to help protect your investment.
