Hitch Head and Pin Box Not Level on the Demco Hijacker Autoslide
Question:
My hitch head or hitch seems to be a little crooked even when in a straight line.the locking pin doesn’t always work on the first hook up.i found that hooking up a little low helps with this problem.in the forward position one corner seems to butt up against the stop plate but the other corner is about two inches from the stop plate.my hitch looks to be a few degrees off center.my truck has standard rails- truck is 25002016 Sierra, gmc.

In regards to the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550034, it sounds like you need to adjust the brackets on the hitch head as this could be the reason that the head is not flush with the pin box. I have attached a photo of the adjustments that need to be made but they are also found in the owner's manual.
Also, what pin box do you have? If it is not a standard pin box then you will also need to use a capture plate in conjunction with the Hijacker. If you can give me the make and model number of you pin box I would be happy to let you know if a capture plate in needed.
The reason you are having trouble with the locking pin is more than likely a result of the height of the pin box in relation to the 5th wheel hitch. I have attached a few more photos which explains the coupling procedures. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
