Will Weight Distribution System Allow Tow Vehicle to Tow Trailer Heavier than Capacity

I have a 2004 chevy avalanche the hitch weight rating is 690 Im looking at a camper with a tongue weight of 970 will a wdh help me or no

Sometimes hitches will have higher capacities listed for if a weight distribution system is used. If this is the case it will be listed on the hitch as a second set of capacities for "weight distribution". If not, then a weight distribution system would not allow you to tow higher than your capacity of 690 lbs.

For the tongue weight of 970 lb that you mentioned the Equal-i-Zer kit part # EQ37120ET that you mentioned would be an excellent choice as it has a tongue weight range of 800-1,200 lbs. To install the hitch ball requires a thin walled socket like the part # ALL643216 as well.
