Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller Multi-Color LED Stays Green when Brakes are Applied
Question:
I just installed the Tekonsha Voyager and I can manually actuate the trailer brakes LED turns from green to orange to red, but I get no color change when I press the brake pedal. Should the LED change colors when I press the brake pedal? Also, when I hold the brake down and move the leveling knob the LED never changes from green. I used the circuit tester to identify the only wire in the brake stop switch that has a signal when the pedal is pressed, but it was a pretty weak mV output. Thanks

There are a couple of things to consider with the Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510. First, you have to be moving for the controller to function with the brake pedal which would make the light change. It is also possible that the controller is out of level or mounted at an angle outside of its capabilities. Check the installation instructions, linked for reference, to make sure you have it mounted and leveled correctly.
A weak signal on the red wire can cause the issue as well. It could be a bad connection at which point you would need to try it again on the same wire. Another option would be to find the center high mount stop light wire (CHMSL) and tap into it instead. This is a dedicated brake light wire with no other functions. It goes to the third brake light found on the cab on some trucks.
Since you are getting at least some voltage, I do not think it is a blown stop light fuse.
