Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 that Makes Buzzing Noise During Operation  

Question:

I fitted a tekonsha voyager brake controlller to my airstream rv with electric brakes on the tag axle.It made a loud buzzing when operated so bearing in mind it was a used controller I fitted a brand new unit ,it does exactly the same any thoughts?

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha who said that if your Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 is making a buzzing sound when you activate the brakes then you have a lot of power running through it. Start off by making sure you have everything wired correctly as follows:

Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)

If everything is properly installed then make sure you have a sufficient ground that is connected to a clean, bare-metal surface, and that you don't have a short on the blue wire. If your ground looks good then try cutting your blue wire. If the noise doesn't happen when you cut the blue wire then you have a short on the blue wire and you need to track it down and either repair or replace that section or wire.
