Troubleshooting Burned Brake Wire on a 2014 Rockwood Pop-Up Camper
Question:
Hello experts! I recently discovered that my brake wiring on my 2014 Rockwood pop-up was burned through. On the driver side I connected the Blue brake wire to one of the green brake wires in the other green brake wire to the wire that is grounded to the trailer. I ran a wire across to the other break and wired that to one of the green break wires. Where I am confused is that there is an additional do a wire set colored white and green that I’m on sure what to do with. I tried various configurations and also simply grounding the other green wire to the trailer none of which seems functional. Do I need an additional part? Not sure where I’m going wrong. Thank you for any help you can provide!

Electric trailer brakes, like what comes in the kit # AKEBRK-7-SA, should only have 2 wires, one for ground and one for power. Either one can be connected to either function so that shouldn't matter. Wiring that has been burned through sounds like either the brake wire wasn't thick enough (we recommend 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1) or there is a bad ground. Be sure that your grounds are securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface to prevent backfeed.
I am not sure if you meant that you have more than 2 wires for one of your brake assemblies or not but if that is the case if you could send me a picture I can try to help you figure out what it is for.
I have attached an installation video of the brake kit I mentioned above being installed for you to reference.
