Does the Computer Need to be Reprogrammed to Install Trailer Wiring on a 2011 Jeep Compass

The computer on your 2011 Jeep Compass should not have to be reprogrammed or flashed to accept the installation of the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118539. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.

The reason the computer would not have to be reprogrammed (something the dealer would have to do) is because, first, this wiring harness requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery to receive power. So it is drawing a very low amount of power directly from the tail light wiring on the vehicle. Second, if you follow the instructions and disconnect the negative battery cable during installation, this can reset the computer (depending on how long it is disconnected).
