Can a Trunk Mount Bike Rack Carry an E-Bike on a 2012 Buick Regal
Question:
Will the trunk rack work for an E-assist bike. Its a bit heavier than a normal bike and the battery back is on the cross bar.

We do have a solution for you but unfortunately trunk mount bike racks, like the Thule OutWay # TH45JV that you referenced, only have a weight capacity of 33 lbs per bike. Any trunk mount bike rack that has a higher capacity will not be much higher than that, maybe 35 pounds.
If you have an e-Bike then you really need to go with a hitch mount bike rack as your bike probably weighs closer to 50 lbs. For your 2012 Buick Regal I recommend installing the Draw-Tite # 36538 which is a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver.
For a single bike rack we have the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo # RKY10007 which secures your bike by the wheels (great unless you have a fender) and is compatible with 1-1/4" and 2" receivers. It has a weight capacity of 60 lbs for the one bike and only weighs in at 25 lbs.
For a 2-bike bike rack I recommend the Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 This is also a wheel mount style that is compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" receivers. It has a weight capacity of 50 lbs per bike (so you may need to remove your battery) and weighs in at 52 lbs.
I have attached some videos and instructions for you to check out as well.
