Monitor Light for the SMI Stay-IN-Play Wont Turn On
Question:
Expert Connor answered my question about red indicator light. I had asked if you forget to turn unit off, will red light still come on and he said yes. I’m now asking, if light doesn’t come on, do I have sensitivity set too low?

I looked through the owner's manual for the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System part # SM99251 and did not see any sensitivity settings for the monitor light. However, I do believe I know that the problem is. Do the brake lights in your toad illuminate when the vehicle is off? If they don't then you will need a stop light switch kit and I would need to know the year, make, and model of your vehicle in order to recommend one. If they do illuminate then odds are you may just have the light connected to the wrong wire on the brake pedal. It will need to be attached to the cold side of the brake pedal or the wire that only has power when the brakes are applied. You can test this with a circuit tester like part # ALL640595.
