Recommended Supplemental Braking System for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
I ordered the Roadmaster EZ-5 Baseplate for My Subaru, and it should arrive tomorrow. I will be towing it with a 2007 Winnebago Class A 30’ Sightseer. I have Tow Arms already in use for another vehicle and a 4-wire harness giving me Right, Left, Brake and Running Lights off the Motorhome, but no wiring for an ancillary Brake System. I want a “one time install” mounted Brake System hidden away in my Subaru. What parts do I need, please. Everything will be ordered through you folks, so please be specific. and thorough. Thanks

The best option for a supplemental braking system in your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek that is a one-time install is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251.
This is a proportional system that activates the brakes in your Crosstrek with the same amount of pressure that you apply to your 2007 Winnebago. The SMI Stay-IN-Play will function automatically when your Crosstrek is hooked up to your Winnie, so after you install it once you will never again need to remove or activate it.
The only other part you will need with this system is the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 which keeps your Subaru's brake signal from overriding the turn signal sent by your Winnebago.
