Replacing axle after blowing bearings on last trip
Question:
I have a older model Jayco 1260 pop up camper, I believe it is a 94. On my last trip the bearings on the passenger side seized. There is no saving the axle. I am needing some advice on replacing the axle. I figured as long as I was replacing it, I would give the trailer a lift, as it sits pretty low. I was thinking of adding leaf springs. As of right now I only have a straight axle. I then came across the Torflex lift which would I believe save me money and give me the needed room to add bigger tires. I have tried to go through your site to figure out what I need if I went with either option, but I am at a loss when it comes to the breaks. Right now I have a breakaway system. Im not sure if I would be able to reuse the existing set up or what I need to switch it all out as well. Is there a way I could get a estimated package pricing on both, if they are both options. The axle is 70inch from hub face to hub face and I am needing a 3500lb axle. Thanks for any help or advice you can give!

For the measurement of 70 inches hub face to hub face, we only have one option for you, but it will replace your brakes, hubs, axle, and suspension. It is the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E. It requires a 2 inch square tube (not included) to use in the integrated holes of the assemblies. These axles have the EZ-Lube spindles so it is easier to maintain so you don't have the bearing failure again.
We don't carry any torsion axle options and we don't have any thru-axle options under 89 inches from hub face to hub face at that 3,500 lb capacity. I've linked that page to help.
The Timbren kit will allow you to use your current breakaway system and you can use up to 15 inch wheels for this application. I've linked all the radial tire options with that 15 inch wheel that match the bolt pattern of your hubs. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
