How to Install the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack on a Truck Cap
Question:
Hi, I am interested in purchasing the Pioneer Tray 79 x 52 to install it in my A.R.E. HD Series truck cap. The topper already has crossbars installed. I want to know if is possible to install the tray on top of the crossbars. There is a video on etrailer.com that shows a lady installing the tray on crossbars using the a bracket. Is that included with the purchase? Would it fit my crossbars? I also saw the Pioneer Heavy Duty Attachment Plate Kit Part# RR43105, but I am not sure if that would work either.

I do have an option for you but there would be no way to attach a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack like part # RR52TB to the roof rack you have on your truck cap. The crossbars are not in the correct location spread wise and the internal channels are different. The only way to attach this Pioneer rack to your truck cap would be to remove the crossbars you have now and install a Rhino-Rack Track System which is composed of part # RTC14, part # RLTF (2), and part # RB1375S (2). You would then also need the Pioneer Platform Mounting Kit part # RR43105.
I have attached review videos for you.

I am trying to figure out the best setup (tracks) and rack for my cap. The cap is an ARE CX and it is on my 2015 DC SB Tacoma. The only thing I plan to mount is a hard shell tent. The tent will extend over the cab of the truck and I do not yet have a rack for the truck. that is next on my list. I don't have a huge budget so I am looking for best options. Which tracks do I need for the CAP. (and) What would you recommend for the cab?
