Transporting 4 Bikes on 2018 Subaru Forester While Towing Malone MegaSport 2 Tier Trailer MPG550-TH

Question:

Can you add 4 bikes to the second tier? I have 2 Vibe kayaks- longest one is 10 feet long. And I would like to add 4 bikes. Is this possible with this trailer? Thank you!

On the Malone MegaSport 2 Tier Trailer # MPG550-TH the second tier crossbar assembly # MPG545 has a weight capacity of 150-lbs. Since the average bike weighs about 35-lbs four bikes could have a total weight close to this limit. By the time you add the weight of the bike carriers you'd probably be over the limit. The two bars on the upper tier will also be too far apart for most bike carriers, plus you'd have to lift the bikes up pretty high!

A better option for transporting bikes while towing your Malone MegaSport is roof-mount bike carriers such as the Swagman Upright frame-mount bike rack # S64720 which fits on factory roof rack bars. Since this rack grips the bikes by their frames there is no need to remove a wheel to load a bike. Please see the linked video to see this rack in use on a Forester.

i looked at this trailer yesterday and the price was 200 dollars cheaper?

Pricing does change from time to time based on manufacturer guidelines, demand, etc. The best thing I can suggest is to keep an eye on it as it will likely go back to where you saw it at some point.
