Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller Indicator Light When Connected To Trailer Without Brakes
Question:
Would the indicator light on a Tekonsha Voyager come on if a trailer with no brakes were connected?

On your Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510, there should only be a light if the controller sees connection to the trailer. This connection to a trailer is found through the pin at the 5 o'clock position on your 7-way, so the controller sees a power draw on the blue brake output wire. This is an issue because the brake controller will sent output power through that blue wire when it reads a trailer is connected.
For a trailer without brakes, the light should not come on and read as connected. If it does, then I recommend cleaning the trailer connections on both the vehicle and trailer side to make sure there isn't corrosion between the connections that could cause that trailer brake controller to read a power draw. Once you've cleaned the connections with some sandpaper, I recommend using some dielectric grease # 11755 to keep debris and moisture out of that connection.
