Recommended Pioneer Platform Fit and Sunseeker Awning for 2017 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
Im looking to purchase a rhino rack pioneer platform 60inch x 49, however Im not sure of the best mounting solution for my vehicle. I have a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, which has factory raised side rails. I also have aero cross bars install. Id like to get the lowest profile mounting of this cargo tray, i need to minimize my vertical clearance for my works parking garage. I could also remove my crossbars and use a fixed mount if that will save me on clearance. Also I want to purchase the sunseeker awning in conjunction with this, can you recommend parts to install this with your mounting recommendation? thanks for your advice.

The Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack - 60" Long x 49" Wide # RR35TB is what you need for your platform and will work well with your aero crossbars. If you want to remove the crossbars to reduce the height, then you would use the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs # RRSX100 for the direct fit to your raised side rails. With the legs and the platform it will sit about 1.54 inches above your side rails. I confirmed these fits with my contact at Rhino Rack as it makes up their JA9133 kit.
Then to add the awning, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Batwing and Sunseeker Awning Mounting Bracket for Pioneer Platform Rack # RR43259 and either the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Roll-Out Awning - Roof Rack Mount - Bolt On - 8' x 7' # RR32133 or 7' x 7' Sunseeker # RR32132. I've attached a photo of a similar fit to assist. Let me know if you have further questions.
