How to Install the Curt Wiring adapter # C51515 on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
I bought both the brake controller and wiring harness adaptor sometime ago but havent taken the plunge to wire it because of uncertain how to. Can you help? I think I located the correct wire bundle under the dash. I found a wire bundle with a white tag on it . It seems to becoming from the fuse box under the dash. It does not have a plugged end to it but leads on to somewhere else under the dash. Is this correct?

To install the Curt Wiring adapter # C51515 in your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado you will need to hardwire it under the dash. To be sure that the wire bundle you found under the dash is the correct set of wires I would check the white tag for any indication as to what each wire is for. If none of them have labeling then it would be best to test their functions with a circuit tester like part # PTW2979. You will then connect the following wires from the Curt adapter to the following functions:
Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
Attached is a sample installation video of the Curt TriFlex # C24VV being installed on a 2012 Chevy Silverado that you can use as a reference.
