Determining How Many 6V Batteries Are Needed for Camping Trip

Question:

Hey guys - I just picked up a Grand Design 2400BH travel trailer. We plan to do some drycamping and have a 480 watt solar system installed, but Im wondering if installing 4 versus 2 6 volt batteries is just overkill for this relatively small trailer. I know theres not correct answer here, but do you have a general opinion about whether 4, 6V batteries would be overkill? Thanks!

Determining if using four 6V batteries will be overkill is really going to depend on a few things specific to your application. Factors such as the planned length of your trips, the amount of appliances (along with their amp draw) you will need to have powered, the need for larger appliances like an Ac, etc will all play a part in deciding just how much power you need. Four batteries will essentially double your amp hours (when compared to two).

You will really just need to find out the power draw of your appliances and how often/long you think you will need to use them to determine if 4 batteries is too many or if 2 will be sufficient.
