When Should Trailer Tires be Inflated to Their Max PSI Rating

Question:

Goodyear Endurance trailer tires are rated to be 65lbs inflation. I assume when tires get hot the pressure goes up over 65lbs. max. Is it better to run these tires at 60lbs so when in use the pressure rises to 65 lbs? Please reply. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

When inflating trailer tires you want to inflate them to the max PSI rating when they are cold. So your tires should be inflated to 65 when cold and you'll be set. You wouldn't have to worry about heat causing excess pressure in the tires unless you were exceeding the speed rating or weight rating.

I attached a help article on trailer tires for you to check out as well.
