Suspension on Instigator 3-Axle Boat Trailer Hits Frame
Question:
I have a 3 axle 15k boat trailer and I do not think the suspension is mounted correctly. It is an Instigator trailer built in Texas and have read nothing but bad things. Also there is only 3/4 to 1 clearance between the top of the u-bolts and the I-beam frame. I can see where it hits from time to time. Help!

I did some research on your trailer and also read a few bad reviews from customers with the company. Since I do not have the trailer in-front of me, there is no way for me to say for certain that the suspension is mounted incorrectly. But, it definitely should not be hitting the frame under normal use. I would recommend having a trailer professional checkout your trailer to see if everything is mounted correctly.
If you bought the trailer new, you may be able to contact the company and have them take care of the problem. If you bought the trailer used there is a chance that the previous owner changed something.
You could replace the hangers with new hangers. You will need to measure the distance from the front of the hanger to the center of the bolt and match up which kit, you will need. For 3 axle trailers, I have linked all the available hanger kits we have available.
I have linked an FAQ on trailer suspension for you to review.
