Cost Effective Way to Carry a Kayak on a 2009 Subaru Forester
Question:
Hello, my 2009 Subaru Forrest has never had a roof rack. Im trying to find the simplest and most cost effective way to mount a kayak. My biggest problem is trying to find something for a 2009. Wondering what you could recommend? I recently shattered my windshield loading it in through the back of my car, really need to find an alternative. Thanks so much for your help!

In order to carry a kayak on the roof of your 2009 Subaru Forester you are going to need a roof rack and kayak carrier. The most cost effective roof rack we have for you is going to be dependent on whether or not you have a bare roof or raised side rails. If you have a bare roof then I recommend the Rhino-Rack # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK186 which uses custom clip mounting and comes with aero crossbars. If you have raised side rails then I recommend the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG215 which mounts to the side rails and also has aero crossbars.
Then in order to place the kayak on the roof rack I recommend the Malone DownLoader part # MPG114MD. This is a very cost effective option for you that come with tie-downs and everything else you need to secure the kayak. The Malone Downloader can also be used with the Malone TelosXL Load Assist part # MPG351XL which makes loading the kayak much easier but it is not required.
