5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2012 Ram 2500 Short Bed 4WD
Question:
I have a 2012 Ram 2500 short bed 4 wheel drive truck. Just purchased a 2013 Palomino Columbus 32RL trailer. Dry weight is 10655, GVWR is 13970. What would you recommend for a hitch.

You will need a sliding type 5th wheel hitch for your 2012 Ram 2500 short bed pickup to give you enough clearance for tight turns with your Palomino 5th wheel. Although your trailer's gross weight is 14K I do suggest a hitch rated for at least 18K to give you a good safety margin. Using a higher-rated hitch also means things will tend to last longer and be more reliable.
For an above-bed base rail set-up I really like the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 along with its custom-fit rail kit # BWRVK2600 that will be easier to install than universal rails. B&W products are superbly made, not too far from us in Kansas, and they are a great company to work with. Their hitches are built to an exceptional standard of fit and finish. Please check out the video I linked for you. For a wiring harness you can use part # PK11893-11932.
If you absolutely prefer an under-bed installation, so that there are no base rails in your truck bed, we offer the B&W Companion 20K hitch # BWRVK3370 that mounts in under-bed install kit # RP30074. This slider offers the same 12-inches turning clearance.
