Will CURT 20x60 Folding Cargo Carrier Clear the Rear Bumper of a 2003 Honda Pilot
Question:
I installed the 18131 folding carrier on a 2003 Honda Pilot. When installed in the closer position to the vehicle, the basket hits the bumper before it can be locked into place. It falls just barely short of being able to place the pin in. Did I install it incorrectly or is there an adjustment that can be made? Or does the basket have to be moved to the rear position to fold up. Thanks

On the 20x60 Folding Cargo Carrier, # C18151, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier when it is folded measures 6 inches. This is with the basket part in the near or far position. It is possible that by moving the basket to the far position it could clear the bumper and allow you to fold it up but the only way to tell is to make the adjustment and see.
On a 2003 Honda Pilot we installed a trailer hitch on, the distance to clear the rear bumper was 5-1/2 inches. If you cannot get the carrier to fold, I recommend a new carrier, # 6502, that is 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole when folded up. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review.
