Difference Between Trailer Hitches C12221 & C12013 On 2007 Toyota Matrix
Question:
Hitch for 2007 Toyota Matrix: what is the difference between C12221 and C12013 besides cost, and it appears that fascia doesnt need mod with C12013?

Expert Reply:
Yes, you are correct the differences are that on # C12221 the heat shield modification may be required, and lower fascia may need to be trimmed for hitch installation. On the # C12013 a heat shield modification may be required. It does not need a fascia modification, which presents an easier install on the 2007 Toyota Matrix.
Also the # C12013 fits the 2003 - 2008 Toyota Matrix XR and XRS.
The # C12221 fits Canadian models of the Matrix FROM 2009 - 2013 (Toyota Matrix,) and 2003 - 2010 Pontiac Vibe GT models.
If you are towing a trailer with lights the recommended harness is # 118386. The plug in location is behind the trim panels in the cargo area on the driver and passenger side. The recommended ball mount is # C45521. If you need a 2" hitch ball # A-82 is recommended. If you need 1-7/8" hitch ball # C40001 is recommended.
If you are towing a trailer with electric brakes, reply to me and I will make further recommendations.
