Recommended Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier for 2007 Honda Pilot

Question:

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot with only Side rails no center bars. I would like to mount to kayaks on the top of this vehicle. 1 Kayak is 9.5 and 1 is 12.0 for total weight of about 110 lbs. What would you think would work for me?

To secure two kayaks to the roof of your 2007 Honda Pilot, you will need to start with a set of crossbars that attach to the factory side rails on the vehicle. For this, I recommend the Rhino Rack Vortex Roof Rack System, which consists of # RRVA126B-2 for the two Vortex Aero Crossbars and # RRSX100 for the SX Series Legs. This will give you a really nice, aerodynamic roof rack that features a weight capacity of 165 pounds.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.

Then for a kayak carrier that will work well, I recommend the Rhino Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S512. This J-style carrier features rubber padding on the cradle arms to cushion the kayak and a steel tube construction with a black powder coat finish that will resist corrosion. The carrier can secure 1 kayak out of the box with the included tie-down straps, but can be expanded to secure 2 kayaks with the Expansion Arm # RRS512X.

I have included a video demonstration on this kayak carrier that you can take a look at as well.
