Is the Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2014 Ford Expedition Good for Towing

There will more than likely be some sort of transmission cooler on most modern vehicles for the exception of those equipped with a manual/standard transmission. I do not believe the manual transmission was an option on a 2014 Ford Expedition therefore it is safe to say that your vehicle is equipped with some sort of transmission cooler.

However, most of the time the transmission coolers on these vehicles except for heavy duty trucks are suited for everyday driving but not necessarily frequent towing. If you will be towing a sizable trailer frequently then I recommend adding a supplemental transmission cooler to your existing cooler. This will ensure the transmission temps do not rise to the point where damage to the transmission can occur.

For your Expedition, I recommend using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13504. As previously mentioned this cooler will add to the existing cooler you have on your vehicle and provide you with adequate transmission fluid cooling power for most towing applications. It is also fairy easy to install with common tools and a bit of mechanical aptitude. I have attached a sample install video on this process for you.
