Replacement Trailer Jack Recommendation for Damaged Motor of RAM Trailer Jack
Question:
I have a RAM electric jack on my 2 year old Grey Wolf 26DBH. Id guess it is a EJ 3520 by the pictures I see on line. Recently and rather suddenly it has began to run very slowly and sounds like it is laboring even when lowering or raising the jack when the trailer is still on the hitch. It used to have a rather high pitch sound but now it just sounds like it is groaning, like it is going to die any second any time I hit the up/down switch. It doesnt appear bent, spraying some WD 40 on the exterior didnt do anything. the battery is fully charged. I havent over extended it, at least not to my knowledge. It raises and extends manually fairly easily although I never tried manually before so I dont know exactly how it should feel. Any ideas? I get the feeling I might be headed towards a replacement!

Sounds like the motor has worn out in your trailer jack. I wish we had that as a replacement part but at this time we do not have that. You'd have to replace the jack at this time.
I think the best value for an A-frame tongue jack is the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR which is rated for 4500 pounds of tongue weight. This is 1000 pounds more than other models, and even though you may not need this much capacity, you will find that the jack motor runs quick and effortlessly. This will add years to its life. This jack also has a unique clutch that prevents damage from overextending or retracting the jack foot - the most common reason for jack failure. I also like that is has a generous 23" lift, including a time-saving drop-foot. It includes LED lights for operating the hitch in the dark, and a built-in bullseye leveling bubble.
