Convert Fifth Wheel Hitch To A Gooseneck
Question:
i have a Pin Box model Lippert 1621 fifth wheel hitch and would like to switch it to a gooseneck. Is the RV 2 compatabile with the 1621 and would the installation be easy? IF not could you recommend one that would work and give me the offset i am looking for. It is going one a 2018 one ton chev pickup with a 6.5 ft box. thank you.

In order to switch your fifth wheel hitch to a gooseneck, you have two options. You can use the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR. This product is an air ride coupler which will let you tow your 5th wheel trailer with your gooseneck hitch. This Goose Box will replace your standard pin box on your 5th wheel trailer. It is endorsed by Lippert Components Inc. so it will not affect the warranty on their trailer frames. It has a fully enclosed airbag on the inside and dual shocks, and it'll provide cushion and absorb road shock. It has a 20,000 pound weight capacity.
Or you can use the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216. On this product, the included collar slides over your fifth-wheel trailer's king pin and is held in place with set screws. Then, larger set screws are mounted at the top of the coupler adapter then tighten onto the collar. Because this adapter is designed with an offset, the top lip of the adapter must also be bolted to the base of the pin box to ensure proper positioning. This product provides an offset of 7-1/2".
The RV2 is a product that we don't carry, it is not clear if will work with the Lippert 1621. But the two above products will fit and are workable solutions.
